A little About Me...
Cheryle Stack
The youngest in a family of seven, I had a typical childhood, and with like-minded friends enjoyed bike rides, snake hunts (fortunately we never found any), baseball, and Barbies. My mother already had grandchildren when I was born, which of course made me an aunt at birth. I considered this so cool, and I once proudly told her that she was the oldest mom in my first-grade class.
While I was still knee-high to a grasshopper, an exciting (and less hazardous) passion took hold: love of the written word. From the backs of cereal boxes to the many books, magazines, and three(!) sets of encyclopedias in our home, I read pretty much everything I could get my eyes on.
Eventually this love for reading led to a love of writing, which in turn led to gigs as a freelance journalist for newspapers and magazines. Those endeavors later evolved into a focus on fiction for children and young adults, with four pre-published manuscripts written to date. When I met fellow writer Laurel Houck in a writing group, we forged a connection through family and fiction. After years of discussing a joint project, we took the leap and began to write together.
When I’m not at my keyboard exploring new adventures with my characters, I enjoy reading, hanging out with my large and diverse family, vacationing anywhere near water, and watching classic movies and retro TV. A native Texan, I’ve now lived in Pennsylvania long enough to consider myself a Texylvanian.
